Wishing All A Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh my, it seems that this glorious Autumn Season is passing by so quickly.... I am so excited for Thanksgiving, and it will soon be here.... Yummy food, shared with family and friends! Is there anything better?
By stepping outside and feeling the Arctic winds, I realize that I will soon have to say good bye to my Autumn friend...
So, with a few more Autumn days left ahead, I am going to soak up every bit that I can, I may even dance with the leaves that are so gracefully blowing around in the wind :)

I wanted to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving day!

For the hay and the corn and the wheat that is reaped,
For the labor well done, and the barns that are heaped,
For the sun and the dew and the sweet honeycomb,
For the rose and the song and the harvest brought home --
I give thanks...

For the trade and the skill and the wealth in our land,
For the cunning and strength of the workingman's hand,
For the good that our artists and poets have taught,
For the friendship that hope and affection have brought --
I give thanks...

For the homes that with purest affection are blest,
For the season of plenty and well-deserved rest,
For our country extending from sea unto sea;
The land that is known as the "Land of the Free" --
I give thanks...

Cotton Candy !

Lately, I have been seeing more and more Artists creating lovely little creations from spun cotton. I have fond memories of delight, as I layed my eyes for the first time, upon a magical spun cotton ornament.

This was definitely an art I did not think I would try, as I felt very intimidated by it, and it looked to be very difficult.
Well, never say never! An artist friend mentioned that Martha Stewart had a tutorial on Spun cotton, so i was curious? I visited Martha and look what I learned...
I thought I would show you a pic of my first attempt. Angel wings! Not bad for my first try huh? But NOT a keeper as I don't like the shape or design and it is a bit loose .

Not at all perfect enough for this little Angel..
But she still needs wings, keeping that in mind I knew I needed some practice.. lots more practice :)

Last night, while watching an episode of Burn Notice, I was trying to perfect my skill with the cotton spinning. Above is a pic of a "SWEET WITCH" I have been working on. She is everything sweet, including the COTTON CANDY hair I envision her to have. So, I spun ringlets, after ringlets of cotton... and before long I was making them almost perfect and snug.

Here is a pic of a few of the ringlets. I started the painting process on this batch using, one part acrylic paint, to two parts water.

as you can see from the pics.. practice makes perfect. The ringlets up closer, are a bit loose and uneven, and they get more even and tighter as I made more.
I am excited to see how my "Sweet Witches" new Cotton candy hair do will look!!!
Oh... I think I'm ready to give those Angel wings another try.

I found this form of art to be very, very relaxing .
I have much to learn, but I know I will enjoy every minute of it!
If you would like to go to Martha's tutorial and do some spinning click here to visit.

A Visitor !

Look who we found in our pond this morning! Yes, this handsome Mallard duck!

I think he likes it here in our pond and has found a safe haven from all the Duck hunters, he will be safe here...I hope he stays, at least for awhile.....

We watched him for the better part of the morning, then left him to enjoy his new " SAFE" home :) Just in case he stays awhile, I named him Herman!

Just in Time for Thanksgiving!

The other day, I had an overwhelming desire to carve! Maybe it is because I had done a deep cleaning in my studio and came across several old Rolling pins that I had purchased several years ago for just that purpose.

It is just like me to bring an item home with a purpose in mind, then stash it away to work on later, then that later turns into years... Do you do have that same problem?

After two years, I am proud to say that I finally got around to carving this rolling pin, and just in time for Thanksgiving! I was thrilled with the way it turned out and I think it would make a lovely hostess gift for that special Thanksgiving cook ;)
If you would like to purchase this festive & unique Holiday decor' just click on either of the picks to take you to my auction.

I wanted to share my Angel with you... Dressed in red, with the sweetest face you ever did see...

I have always admired Zan Asha's lovely cloth dolls.. she puts charming little details into each doll she creates, oh and the faces are so precious!
The other day, I was pleasantly surprised to see a package on my doorstep. I opened the box carefully, to my surprise this little Christmas Angel dressed in red, was looking up at me.
Along side the Angel, was a nicely written note from Zan. My heart was touched and my eyes felt like a over flowing well.
Most all of you know Zan, but for those who have not met her yet you are in for a treat.
Zan is a lovely person ( you can see where her dolls get thier disposition) She is always interesting with her journeys through life, Always upbeat and on the go... She is a Farmer, a Bee Keeper, an Artist and a great writer and I am pretty sure she has a day job in between all this.. I love to read her blog, always interesting and very inspiring. Oh and lastly, she holds fantastical Doll Swaps! If you would like to visit Zan, simply click on either pick of the sweet Christmas Angel doll and the Angel will fly you safely to Zan's blog.
Thank You Zan!

Wishing you all a wonderful day, filled with fun, laughter & creativity!

Wip's

I'm up for air after a week of fun in the studio! The first part of the week I worked on my daughter's Birthday present, which i gave to her before I could get a pic;)
Then, I have been working on these 3 little characters. One being sweet, as sweet, as can be... while the other two little stinkers are keeping me on my toes with their fun lovin' and a little bit mischievous personalities! Sure can't tell how mischievous they are by their big ol' grins :)
They still have some painting to go and a little glittering up to do before they are ready to make their debut... But, that will have to wait because ?

I'm going SHOPPING with the GIRL'S!
We plan to spend our $ at Hobby Lobby, Tai Pan and wherever the road takes us. Hmmmm??? I sure hope that road stops at The Olive Garden for lunch, I'm feeling a little Italian today!

I hope your Saturday brings you much Joy in what ever you do!
