My Christmas Tree

While Shoppers were frantically rushing to their favorite stores, in the wee morning hours on BLACK FRIDAY, to be the first in line for that " I have to have gift". I chose to stay at home and have a peaceful and very magical day to myself, decorating our little cottage for Christmas.
My home is very small and cozy, perfect for just my husband and I. Our Christmas tree is no more then 3 feet tall. However, this year I wanted the tree to be BIGGER! Well, when you are short on space and you want something bigger, but you cant go out. You can always go UP! So, that is just what I did. I placed the tree on the top of my old rickety, mustard yellow wooden ladder. I draped a long tapestry runner down the ladder, resting on each step. As I finish my handmade gifts, I plan to place each wrapped package on the steps of the ladder. My Violin playing Santa is on one of the steps. I love how it turned out and cant wait to get my gifts made so they can be placed upon the ladder, creating a pyramid leading up to the Christmas tree. I think my Husband thinks I'm a Kook! As this is not very traditional as we are used to having.
I really need a lesson on picture taking! LOL...... If you can see through the blurr, here's a pic of one of my jewel ornaments. I will have the love of my life take a full view of the tree once I have the presents placed on the ladder.

I have passed this award on to these very special blogs. They not only have wonderful blogs but are wonderful people. I think you will enjoy your visit!

Just Hanging Out!

I would like to introduce one of my fur kids to you. This is Piper!
He was given to me from my son's girlfriend when he was just a tiny kitty.
Someone had dumped him off in the big wilderness when he was just a few weeks old.
Now, I have never claimed to be a cat person. I have always had dogs, but this little guy has found a place in mine and my husbands heart.

This is Piper clear up in the tip-top of our Maple. Yep, the very TIP-TOP!

And this is Cocoa, he is my brother's dog. He came to visit and apparently, Piper has NOT found a place in his heart!
Cocoa chased Piper right up that tree...........

For hours, clear into the dark of night, my husband and I tried coaxing that little kitty down. I couldn't believe that cats can go upthat high and be afraid of coming back down. I thought for sure we would be calling the fire department. Do people really do that??? All I know is, he wasn't coming down and I didn't know any scrawny little kids that could climb up that tree. At last, after many hours of what seemed to be some sort of negotiations between Piper andmy husband, he was finally able to get him safely down out of that big maple.

Yep, and this is sweet Cocoa.............Naughty puppy!

Magic in a Nutshell !

Have you ever, ever seen something so tiny.....
As the Winter air grows colder, you cant help but to want to go inside this cozy little cabin, that is nestled in the Rockey mountains, surrounded by tall pines.
Can you smell the Pine trees.....Or, the smoke in the air that comes from the fireplace inside...that keeps you warm and toasty while sipping a mug of cocoa...

When you hold this, oh so teeny, tiny, magical ornament in your hands, you become part of it's magic!

This beautiful, collectible ornament masterpiece was carved and created by my talented husband, Alan.
This little little bit of "Magic in a Nutshell" Is up for bidding on E-bay. I have provided a link.

American Goldfinch Thistle Drone

I have to BRAGG up my honey again, for this remarkable flute he just completed. This is my most favorite flute Alan has created.
The flute starts as a long, rough block of wood. From my husbands creative hands, he gives life, to a breathtaking musical instrument.
When Alan is finished creating the flute, he sets it on my art table for the painting and staining process. In this particular project, I had the opportunity to challenge my sculpting ability and create the Thistle. Each petal of the thistle was created one piece at a time (SCREAM!) just kidding!!!! It was a wonderful challenge.

This lovely flute was gifted to Alan's older brother. The best part of this art project, was the look on Alan's brother's face when Alan, placed it in his hands....

Ivory Billed Woodpecker

This Striking, Magnificent bird, is the Ivory Billed Woodpecker. At one point, due to this birds deteriorated habitat, the Ivory Billed Woodpecker was considered extinct. But, this bird has been recently rediscovered through several sightings in Eastern Arkansas. A University has started a large project to document the rediscovery of the Ivory Billed Woodpecker.
Many who have known me or visited my previous blog, knows that I share a beautiful life with my very talented Husband, Friend and Artist, Alan MacNaughtan. Alan is a Master woodcarver, with many of his carvings gracing the homes of collectors throughout the world. Several years ago, Alan stumbled upon the Native American flute. He fell in love with the beauty of it's voice . Alan has found his passion and has dedicated his creative path in creating these breathtaking instruments. This Ivory Billed Woodpecker flute, was just completed last night. Alan made this flute as a gift for our Son, Anthony.
If you would like to see more flutes that Alan has created, and hear the beautiful voices in which each flute sings. Please click on the link.

~ Halloween Fun

Yep, this is me, Dianie Mac. I didn't want to go overboard on the Halloween costume as we have so many little ones in our family and they just don't appreciate all the ghost and goblin's. So Granny D just went with the Gothic look.... the grand kids and nephews still love me:)
We have tried to make it a tradition every Halloween night, to have a crock pot full of Sloppy Joe's and a table of goodies. Our house is open to all our family and friends who want to take a break from the Trick-r-treating and have a bite to eat and a relaxing visit. This year we even had a few strangers come in for one of these irresistible donuts. Before they left we were friends. I hope they stop by next year... Can you see those mini bananas? I thought they were so cute, I had to buy a couple of bundles. I didn't really expect many to be eaten, but to my surprise all the kids loved them!

This is a pic of my great nephew, Dillon. He is enjoying his new google glasses and a donut. I am not sure where the pic's are of my other grand kids? I know the camera's were just a snappin, when I find them I will have to post the pic's. Anywhoo, Jazz was Tinkerbell and Kasen was a lion. Parker wasn't able to make it over, but I'm thinking he was a pretty cool Skeleton.

This year we had more Trick-R-Treaters then we have ever had... Hubby and I had a great evening, I cant wait until next Halloween!!!
